Called By Name

Isaiah 43:1-3

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;  I have called you by name,

you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with

you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when

you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not

consume you.  For I am the Lord your God,

the Holy One of Israel,  your Savior.

                                                                                 

PURPOSE OF THE

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

    The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women

whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ;

to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission

through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Sharing the warmth of God's love

with shawls & blankets

        Across the United States , United Methodist Women members are knitting, crocheting or sewing prayer shawls and baby blankets to give to people in their communities in need of compassion and caring, warmth and love.  Four shawls and a baby blanket were made by our UMW members Shirley Ashley, Princess Barlay, Gladys Jackson and Janet Scott.  These items along with twenty-seven other shawls and baby blankets were blessed at our Lenten Day Apart Service on Sunday, March 14^th at Bethel United Methodist Church .  All thirty –two items will be on display in the Experience Hall area of Assembly 2010.  At the end of the Assembly, the shawls and baby blankets will be distributed those in need.  Some of the shawls and baby blankets will be available for purchase for a minimum $25.00 donation with proceeds going to United Methodist Women’s Mission Giving.  Members of our unit will continue to knit, crochet and/or sew prayer shawls and baby blankets that will be blessed at our church and given to those in need in our neighborhood.
